There is no cloud to sign your files over to. Your devices connect
directly to each other, encrypted end to end — you just tell them which
folders to keep together.
01
Install ZataSync
Put it wherever your files live. A desktop app on your Mac, Windows, or Linux machine; a container on your NAS; or a headless CLI daemon on a server. One account ties them together.
02
Pair your devices
Each device shows a short pairing code. Enter it on the other end and the two exchange and pin each other's certificates. From then on they authenticate directly — mutual, pinned-certificate auth over QUIC — and trust nothing else.
03
Choose folders and sync
Point each device at the folders you want kept in step. Changes propagate the instant a file is saved, in both directions, end-to-end encrypted. Versioned snapshots mean a bad save or an accidental delete is a restore, not a loss.
Runs wherever your files live
One account, every surface — mix and match freely.
Desktop app
macOS (Apple silicon + Intel), Windows, and Linux, with a menu-bar/tray UI.
NAS container
Run it next to your storage as a Docker container — compose snippet on the download page.
CLI daemon
A headless binary for servers and scripts, configured from the command line.
What the $7/mo pays for
Free on your network. Pro across the internet.
On the same network, your devices discover each other for free — forever.
You can also expose a device through a port-forward you set up yourself and
sync to it from outside, still free.
The hard part is two devices behind different routers — different homes,
mobile networks, carrier-grade NAT — where neither can simply dial the
other. Pro runs the rendezvous that introduces them and,
when a direct hole-punch is not possible, an encrypted relay that forwards the traffic. That is the whole product of the subscription:
reachability.
The relay only ever forwards ciphertext — it cannot read your files.
Access is enforced server-side, so there is nothing to patch or crack in the client.
Cancel any time and you drop back to free LAN + port-forward sync.
